The Chief Express Story

Chief Express is an American, family owned, small business success story! Named after our Presidents father, in whom fellow employees affectionately referred to as “Chief", it traces its humble beginnings back to 1995 to the oldest pottery region in the United States, rural Seagrove, NC. The legacy begins with 1 truck, a handful of trailers, and a burning desire to achieve the American Dream! Chief Express was off and rolling as a hauler for many of the world famous furniture brands that call North Carolina home! Never one to sit and idle, soon Chief Express was on the move and growing with customers such as Sealed Air Corporation, Gildan Activewear, American Freight Furniture and Jeld‐Wen Industries. In business now for over 25 years, Chief Express is a major player in the trucking industry with a fleet of 75 trucks and 300+ trailers that provide service across 34 states.

At the wheel is President and Owner Kennan Hill. With his personal knowledge of the trucking industry from the driver’s seat to the corporate board room, he is steering Chief Express into the 21st century with a steady hand to be the “Leading Truckload Carrier”!
